Walk-A-Thon was a blast! Check out some of the pictures!
Last week students learned all about binocular writing (using the five senses to make their narrative writing more interesting). Students got to eat popcorn, smell it, feel it, and listen to it pop. They then had to write about it.
Trevor recently moved back to Byron Center from the East side of the state and we are so glad! He loves spending time with his brother, Christopher, and the rest of his family. Trevor has a lot of cute dogs and showed us all of his pictures!
One of our science projects for our first unit on plants was an apple tasting! Students had to try 6 different varieties of apples and decide which one was their favorite and why. Surprisingly, the favorite apple of the class was Granny Smith apples!
Maddox was our second hiker of the week! We learned that Maddox loves science experiments (she does a lot at home), enjoys writing in her special notebook, family vacations, and loves to travel! Maddox plays outside a lot and is currently writing a script for a movie! We can't wait to watch it!
Last Friday Marshall Elementary was able to experience a First Responder Day! The kids watched AeroMed land a helicopter right on our playground. We then toured the helicopter, met a police dog, and got to see a fire truck and ambulance. The pictures show just how much fun they had!
Students completed a science simulation all about pollination! They learned about the importance of bees and pollen in growing flowers that eventually turn into fruit and vegetables!
On Friday, September 7 our class had a special book tasting event. Students were able to sample books of all genres and write down books they might be interested in reading!
Lynn was the first Hiker of the Week! Lynn is new to Marshall this year. She is a very creative person who loves art. One of her favorite types of art is painting. We are so glad Lynn is at Marshall!
On the first day of school, kids got into their new groups and created a team name along with a banner. Each group then competed in a silent competition to finish their puzzle first!
